16, 18, 21 – these are all milestone birthdays. But did you know your 26th birthday is also an important one when it comes to taking care of your health?

The Affordable Care Act (ACA) allows young adults to stay on their parents’ health insurance plans until they turn 26. Once you reach this milestone, you’ll have to enroll in your own health coverage. You have until December 31 of the year you turn 26 to enroll to avoid a lapse in coverage.

For many young adults, enrolling in health coverage for the first time can be confusing. Even if you are young and healthy, having coverage and staying up to date on your checkups and preventive screenings is important. That’s why Access Health CT is here to help. We can walk you through the application for health coverage and answer your questions.

We can also connect you with a Certified Broker who can meet with you to talk about what you want or need out of coverage and then help you fill out the application. They can also help you select the health or dental coverage that is best for you. And the best part? The service is free!

Whether you want to chat with someone online or talk to a real person over the phone, we are there for you. Visit our Get Help page to see all the resources available.

When you’re ready to head out on your own, create an account and start comparing health and dental coverage options.
